1978 Chevrolet "Black Knight" El Camino

1978 El Camino: Available, my expenses so far on my 1978 Chevrolet "Black Knight" El Camino. Linked is an active Google Drive Spreadsheet, so feel free to access it. Public Domain. I'll probably talk more about those jobs going forward.

I've entered into a little business venture with a friend and fate. My good buddy, Andrew Yoshihara turned me onto this rugged diamond in the ruff, I did my research, stressed, found it to be a good car. Hearing it start sold me; Such a throaty rumble.

It had been well taken care of, there were signs of recent work, and new parts. The dual exhaust was solid, could use some headers. I checked the levels and the body tag. It had all correct markings to identify it as a 1978 Chev El Camino. It came from the factory with the black paint and the camel interior. The hood emblem, two griffins facing off like duel flames. It was really cool.

I drove it home, only got pulled over once! Phew!

Some parts were missing and that's what brought me to the Pick'n'Pull here. If you go on a work holiday, you get half price. I picked up stacks of needed trim, I pulled out some pins, a few caps. It was well worth the admission. Katherine, you were so brave to use the Honey Buckets there.

This is gonna be some work. It needs to go just so, to work out. I'm on a tightened schedule. Sacrifices will have to be made work, blood offered out my knuckles; worked, darkened fingernails. So dramatic!

I'm trying to be as thrifty as possible, I'm utilizing sales, best deals, and schemes to try and make this a boot-strapped project. However, I want to do it right; good parts, thoughtful work, and restoration.

The engine, drivetrain, a/c all appear to be all well maintained, original equipment. 305 engine, 5.0 liter, 2brl carb, so not even 200 HP, but it will be a much more efficient drive than the 5.7 liter. The interior is complete, but worn. It could definitely use a carpet kit. Maybe I'll get to that, maybe I won't, we'll see.
