The power of one

I had to walk to work today. It actually takes about the same amount of time taking the train when you factor the stops, I'm only about a mile away.

I arrived to my stop this morning to find the train stalled on the tracks with a scene unfolding. A girl, seen in the second pic, had apperently fallen to the floor and was weeping quietly. A man, possibly her boyfriend, was trying to comfort her. There was a Trimet police officer standing outside the open doors.

I never did find out what the real problem was, I just assessed the situation and started walking. I looked at the faces of all the other passengers, annoyed and concerned as their day was impacted. Held up by one misplaced.

My old view

Thanks Deanna
A friend from my old Smith Barney office sent me this photo of the sunrise this morning. I really miss this view from the 23rd floor of the Fox Tower.

Diverted online energy

I haven't written on my blog for what seems like a long time. I'm not self-conscious about saying it this time, as I always scoffed at my journal entries that started this way. Wasted ink on their time away, all spent on their length away.

Appropriate because I have been working for a longtime, good friend of mine; a labor of love for his current pet project. I'm glad to do it and it's really fun.

JC's Theater Company

I put the blog together with his theater troupe.

THE SHOW IS PLAYING NOW

I need to write some lite-reading right now though.

Tron: Legacy

On 3/6/11, I saw Disney's, "Tron: Legacy" in 3D for the fifth time. I think that sort of intake puts me squarely into the obsessive category of super-fan. Recognize, cause I don't see that many movies in the theater; I've never seen another movie five times in a theater before. I've scored my first five-banger.

I often criticize the wool as it's pulled over my eyes, but this film... I just find it so interesting. If you let yourself explore it, there's a huge universe of commerce and backstory unfolding in the background of this film. The creators have, to me... created an amazing xample of what a sequel should be.

Visually and aurally, it's presentation is complete. I think that from start to finish it is sensational... literally a feast for all the senses.

French electronic duo Daft Punk manages to compose the mood throughout with their score for the film. I have the soundtrack to Tron: Legacy. It has given me the pleasure several times, it's complete.

I'll put it on and immediately turn it up as high as I can stand, the sound is just clean throughout. It features an 85-piece orchestra, The London Philharmonic, recorded at AIR Lyndhurst Studios in London; so the score has this classical influence. Daft Punk manages to stay close to it's origins with nostalgic 80's synths and a video game sound-scape.

See J. Loudon's review and quick walkthrough of the disc on Amazon.

If anyone knows the actual classical influence for this score, please comment below. Hans Zimmer is mentioned as a more contemporary influence.
