On 3/6/11, I saw Disney's, "Tron: Legacy" in 3D for the fifth time. I think that sort of intake puts me squarely into the obsessive category of super-fan. Recognize, cause I don't see that many movies in the theater; I've never seen another movie five times in a theater before. I've scored my first five-banger.
I often criticize the wool as it's pulled over my eyes, but this film... I just find it so interesting. If you let yourself explore it, there's a huge universe of commerce and backstory unfolding in the background of this film. The creators have, to me... created an amazing xample of what a sequel should be.
Visually and aurally, it's presentation is complete. I think that from start to finish it is sensational... literally a feast for all the senses.
French electronic duo Daft Punk manages to compose the mood throughout with their score for the film. I have the soundtrack to Tron: Legacy. It has given me the pleasure several times, it's complete.
I'll put it on and immediately turn it up as high as I can stand, the sound is just clean throughout. It features an 85-piece orchestra, The London Philharmonic, recorded at AIR Lyndhurst Studios in London; so the score has this classical influence. Daft Punk manages to stay close to it's origins with nostalgic 80's synths and a video game sound-scape.
See J. Loudon's review and quick walkthrough of the disc on Amazon.
If anyone knows the actual classical influence for this score, please comment below. Hans Zimmer is mentioned as a more contemporary influence.
